What a bloody awesome day out... Craig rang and said "do you want to go for a ride thursday with some blokes from Temco?"
"I'll be there" I said even though I have heaps of shit to get done and a gammet of other reasons I shouldnt go.

He texts to say I'll pick you up at 7:50.. all right.. "where we going Craig ? "I ask, " dunno really "he says, " but Trick is going and we are going to look for a track we saw on Google earth.. " Trick, Google Earth.. its sounding better by the minute. I knew this was going to be good, thus the premonition.

so 7:50 arrives, but Craig doesnt and for the first time in our five year history he is late.. only about ten minutes or so but soon we are loaded ready to roll..

I was really quite excited as Ive felt there was something missing about what we do of late and it wasnt until later in the day it dawned on me...

We met the other blokes at the Nunamara shop and convoyed to Wombat Park..
My bike developed an almost bungy tie down effect in which it would lie down around right hand corners, so Craig would reef the wheel left and it would stand up again.. sorta set the scene for the day

It was a cool day.. all i forgot this trip was a top, which trick had a nice yellow one spare, thanks Rick and away we went.. nearly.. Craigs bike , a CRF this week, took a few kicks to get going so me being me started hangin shit.. then i had to kick mine heaps cause the battery was flat, so i stopped hanging shit and kicked.. ten minutes later, Me and Craig with the sweat pissin out of us had bikes going and then we were off.. incidentally, I believe this may be the first ride in Trailriderz history that Honda CRFs were the most popular bike with two

So, our group consisted of
craig CRF 250 with two pipes
Rick KTM 300
Coatesy CRF 450
Jody Suzuki DRZ 400
Batty Husaberg 570
Me Yamaha Wr 450
Darren, Craigs shift husband from Temco decided to be a piking fairy arsed skirt wearing kawasaki lickin homo dog humpin cow fingerer no show er for which I held no grudge against him for not coming as you may see...

We headed off toward Talawa in the direction of the spooky forest, me suffering from my usual morning sickness.. slowing coming to terms with how to ride a dirt bike, but within an hour or so it started coming back, i loosened up and we started track hunting and came across some great stuff within yahoo of Weldborough..

We ventured toward Derby on a series of tracks and then Rick says "look there " and there is a small opening, so we go looking.. next thing you know we are in an obviously hand cut peice of single trail that I just know Craig and Rick were smiling inside their helmets whilst we explored.. we took a right turn and then things took a turn of the slippery sort in which Rick and I ended up at the top of a hill to the sound of silence... Ricks bike made its own little fog cloud as he boiled the jug, thought he was making a coffee, but it was just another KTM in the bush..

Rick and I walked back down the track discussing the fact that we would have to walk back up. I found some wicked mossy stumps and ferns and the sorta shit I really like along with this amazing peice of ... anyway its a tree stump from a fallen tree in which little peices of quartz are in the soil, but the rain has eroded the soil away except for where there is quartz, creating little stalactites/ stalagmites.. ( cant remember which one is up and down) mites i think, although these havent grown like whichever it is.. they have simply formed.. fascinating stuff..

anyway, back to the bike stuff

Craig came blasting up the hill then soon after Jay came along on the berg, also preparing hot water for coffee and we waiting for Jody on the DRZ but he ran out of uphillness for which I offered to ride his bike up.. awesome, I was too buggered to walk back up..

Once going again, we followed the trail .. it was friggen wild.. Trick and craig were grinning like they had found a porno mag in a temco toilet and we went in search of more..

We did a small loop then decided it would be good to do this new track backwards and went back to the start.

I had one of my lead rider seizures and took off in front. 25 metres later I found that the track had dissappeared and i turned around to see Rick parked at the point where the track actually went, but my 8 second ride lead was good.

We buzzed back through the track all the way through and headed to Derby, down a bloody wicked rock hill, big granity grippy rocks you could just let the bike go and flow down, shit it was good.

We crossed a river and i noticed down the river a bit there was what appeared to be a dam wall, so Batty and i went and explored and I got some pics.. how cool is this?

Shortly after we arrive in Derby for some petrol and lunch, Its 2 o clock and the heaters get turned off just after 3. We get going again and looking for tracks, I was very keen to 'find 'a track and saw and opening, so we went and had a look , only to come back to thetrack we were already on, just about 2 kays back.. so i stopped looking for tracks or trying to lead.

Not long after the decision was made to start heading for Wombat. Up some shitty hills, along some great highland plains, back to the Spooky Forest.

We fair pumped along and whilst sitting on a corner on ..something .. road, a bloody log truck came out of nowhere, scared the crap out of us.

From there is was just a mission to beat the dark and get back. I think I may have done a mono or two yesterday, so i snuck in a couple more and in no time we were back at the cars, buggered, cooling off, but all bloody stoked...

The missing element... a small group, not really knowing where we were going, no egos, no pressure, no nothing except bloody awesome tracks, a casual bunch of really cool blokes and a couple of tank fulls of juice.

Although Im bloody stoked with how our monthly rides are going and Im pleased with how a well organised and planned ride works out, Ive really missed the unknown of trailriding.. add to that a new bunch of people to ride with, new tracks, wicked moss and ferns and black cockatoos, this ride really rates with me. Craig and Rick are a fuckin brilliant team, loading new awesomeness into their already awesome catalogue of tracks, the spontaneity of the ride, absolutely perfect weather.. I could go on, but i think the glow should be shining through

Hey Temco boys, whens your next day off?

this was the song on the loop in my head for the day
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIrUqsB-0vw
reckless by Aussie Crawl

top it all off.. I had to deliver some parts to Campbelltown and got this for $2 for tea

So, another Kappas Hardcore Adventure in the bag and it was a cracker.
Glenn Stopher and 'I ' had planned on getting up at some ungodly hour to head down, but after talking with Cam on the friday, a last minute decision to head down frinday night was made and so at about 2 o clock friday arvo, the plan was kicked in and away we went.. well, I actually went and had a sleep for a couple of hours then got up loaded and went and picked up Glenn and Stopher... and the hire bike from Craigs for Jamie

we soon learned that with the toolbox on the drawbar that glenns trailer wouldnt fit my ute with the tailgate down, and i remembered Dar sending me a photo years ago of his ute with bikes hanging over the tailgate, so we did that

Called in to visit John on the way and he was ready as usual.. had a look around the sheds and bikes then off to Cams

where I decidied at the last minute that the rear tyre on the hire bike just wouldnt cut it and bought atyre of Cam to fit.. glad I did, traction was avery sought after concept on the day

so about 1:30 in the morning we put the wheel back in the 250 and head to bed.. I think i do bike work at Cams everytime Im there.. ideal place for it though

Its a pretty familiar scene now arriving at Dicks with heaps of fine weaponary kickin around... we went through the greetings and a breifing, collected names and encouraged those present to chuck a tenner in the tin as they filled out there names on the sheet..Im told there was 32 riders and have 28 names on list.

Jamie hired the 250 for the day, said it was the best $200 he'd spent and it would have been ideal in the territory, may have been a different story with a bald tyre on the back

Dick took the motorcycle Scene WR 450 to begin with.. I was yelling out "Kappa kappa " and it was Dick.. didnt see the neck, just the padding, forgive my mistake
Up over Shakespeares is always entertaining... no hot chippers this year so the group moved pretty well apart from a flat or three
Derek from Motorcycle Scene supplied a 2012 WR 450 again, so you rarely see him on the same bike.. he must take a fuel additive with him, because every bike he rode he whizzed past me on...
Just prior to lunch Rus washed the inside of his bike and left us in two groups, the first group did a lap of an awesome clay section as the others caught up, we had lunch, then did it again, only quicker seeing it had been chopped up and had more rain on it

just a camp fire? well it was just some coals and wet wood when we got there... think John and a bottle of petrol may have caused a lost hair or two..
The Preolenna enduro track was greasy.. I heard Eggs yell out "its only a half hour around" yeah right, in race conditions in November... i think my feet would have paddled half the track, shit it was greasy.. i saw some good riders paddling like beginners in spots you would normally just fly through.. Glenn did an arm or shoulder for which Kappa offered to run him back around the road .. rumour has it Kappa said he was happy to take glenn back so he could get near the wood heater.. Kappas Woodheater Adventure

Back to dicks for a hamburger and snag and a drink, always a perfect way to end a day.. Terry reminded me of sitting there for two hours in out socks and undies after he lost the keys back in 09... a much easier finish this time.

Does Kappa look like a South Park character in this pic?

As usual, a bloody top job between Dick Kappa and Eggs and this was probably the best crew to have done the trip.. even though conditions were rough, we kept flowing pretty well and laughing at all the spots we should.
